Biography

“My work seeks to deal with that which is arising in the given moment – enjoying the dive into sensation and delusion. It centers corporeality as the site for inquiry, orbits and revelation.”

Jacqueline Aylward is a dance maker, pedagog and performing artist from Naarm (Melbourne), Australia who is currently based in Helsinki. She studied Contemporary Dance at The Victorian College of the Arts, Classical Ballet at The Australian Conservatoire of Ballet, Somatics and Dance Pedagogy at ISLO and competitive Sports Acrobatics at Team Adrenaline. Jacqueline is also a 200hr qualified yoga teacher and has a Bachelor of Arts in History and English/Theater studies from The University of Melbourne. Currently, she is completing her Masters of Dance and Performance at The University of Arts Helsinki.

Jacqueline is interested in dance and somatic practices that enact aspects of the psycho-kinetic potentiality of the human material in both solo and group contexts. She is curious about using choreography as scaffolding for embodied dreaming and in understanding performance as an offering of the self for the imagination of the spectator.
